Situated on downland adjacent to the world famous racecourse the 5,357 yards layout demands both accuracy and good positional play due to the undulating nature of the topography of the course. Epsom Golf Course has to be one of the shortest courses in Surrey. The longest hole is well under 500 yds. The fairways tend to be hard and dry, shortening the course even more. This tends to need links-style approach play Epsom Golf Course at times. The greens were in good condition and some have challenging slopes on them. The biggest problem is the constant road-crossing required, by my calculation some 10 times in the round.
