Golf Course Says
Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club has undergone a transformation over the recent years, thanks to an investment by its owners. The project, undertaken by the late world renowned J.B. Carr, & one of golf's great course architects, Ron Kirby, has produced dramatic results. Dromoland Golf and Country Club is one of Europe's finest estates & now has a golf course to equal the splendour of the setting. Visitors to the course have described it eloquently as "the Augusta of Ireland".

Media Reviews
Where2Golf.comIn 2003 Ron Kirby was commissioned to significantly improve the golf course at Dromoland Castle, installing new greens, tees, drainage and one or two layout changes, which also added 850 yards to the course's length. The essential ingredients of undulating parkland obviously remained - the Dromoland course contains a pleasant mix of both open and more wooded stretches, sometimes in quite expansive countryside, sometimes more tree-lined and other times hugging the castle's impressive lake. The plunging par-3 7th, with the castle and lake as a backdrop, is one of the great holes on the course. However, there are also some potential card-wreckers, particularly those involving water and most especially the 11th, which requires a precise drive over a marsh and onto a ribbon-like strip of fairway. Dromoland's golf course doesn't quite measure up to some of Ireland's internationally renowned parkland courses (e.g. K Club, Carton House or Mount Juliet) on all counts, but in combination with the castle, it does provide a top-quality stay & play location. A great base from which to discover the west of Ireland.
