Golf Course Says
Downfield Golf Club is an essential experience for golfers of all abilities. Visitors will like to play from the blue tees that measures over 6500 yards with a par of 72. The course is set to undergo some redevelopments in the next few years with DJ Russell drafted in to oversee the project. Downfield Golf Club is an Open qualifying venue and Paul Lawrie qualified at the course before winning the Open in 1999.

I visit Downfield at least once a year. It is an Open qualifier so it is a stern test of golf. The course winds through mature parkland and on most holes you cannot see any other, a perfect setting. There are a number of great holes here, particularly the par 5 4th and the par 4 16th which is aptly named 'round the bend' as it is a downhill dogleg left with the green tucked in behind some tall trees.
