Don Cayo Golf Club

The Don Cayo golf club was founded in 1974 by Don Luis Campomanes Asumendi as part of the "El Aramo" residential development. Situated in the foothills of the Sierra Bernia mountain range it is located in the municipal limits of Altea, a Mediterranean village famous for the beauty of its historic quarter and the distinctive natural light. A nine-hole course that measures 3,078 metres from the white tees, this is no walk in the park. The extremely difficult holes include the 5th and 6th. The 5th is a 580 metre par 5 with lateral water to the left, out-of-bounds to the right, a lot of trees and an average-sized raised green protected by 2 bunkers. The 6th is a slightly uphill 227-metre par-3. The hole is blind with a big bunker protecting the green and out-of-bounds on both sides. Not all the holes are a fierce but they do require accuracy if you want to land the ball on the fairway. The 3rd and 7th are particularly attractive, the 3rd with its views of the sea and the 7th from where you can make out the mountains surrounding the Marina Baixa. This may be a nine-hole course but if you are up for a challenge this is a course not to be missed.
