The 6727 yard Deer Park Golf & Country Club has hosted regional qualifying for the Open and has been the venue for the Scottish PGA. Regarded as one of the Lothians' most testing courses Deer Park quickly established its reputation after opening in 1978. The par 72, parkland course was designed by Peter Alliss, Dave Thomas and Peter Clark. Large, undulating green, well positioned bunkers and generous fairways combine to make Deer Park Golf & Country Club a fair test of a golfers ability.

Deer Park is a course of two halves. The front nine is flat and pretty open with some reasonable holes. The back nine has a bit more character and is actually the original nine. A little bit hillier than the front 9, it still has some good holes. Deer Park is a very playable course with good greens and worth a visit if you have not been.

Deer Park Golf Course starts out as a great course. The opening four holes really start what you expect to be a quality course. However, the rest of the course doesnt impress and a lot of pointless hole designs spoil what could have been a great course. The greens at Deer Park Golf Course are very quick however.

Very disappointed when I got to Deer Park Golf Course. Had heard great things about this course but in my opinion it was a bit off a let down. Can't think of one hole that stands out. Bunkers were very inconsistent as were the greens. Will not be in a rush to go back to Deer Park Golf Course.
