The Park course at De Vere Oulton Hall was a good test but not particularly long. Most of the holes are quite tight off the tee with several dog-legs requiring some thought from the tee. Most definitely a test of brain and not brawn. None of the holes at De Vere Oulton Hall were particularly bad, but none particularly memorable either. However there is a new club house and practice area being developed for 2008, which looks very impressive. Essentially this is an above average resort course that golfers of all abilities will enjoy and is worth a play.

National Club GolferAll three nines are of a good standard, with holes 10-18 probably the most exciting. Expect lots of doglegs and the occasional piece of water to challenge you to the full. The jewel in the corwn is the Nike Academy.

Oulton Park Golf Course is regarded, by many council tax payers and players, as probably the best municipal golf course in Leeds. As council owned courses go it takes some beating. Oulton Park Golf Course served well as a Winter Stable for our office golf society, benefiting from the ability to rest 9 holes from its 27 during the Winter. Each of the three 9s provides a slightly different challenge giving a varying 3 way combination of 18 holes. The fairways at Oulton Park Golf Club are generally wide and the greens large and flat. Although, a recent Saturday morning visit left players disappointed as the fairways here as long as the light rough. Overall, with 2-fore!-1 vouchers good VFM. Perhaps the take-over by De Vere, who own the 5 star Oulton Hall hotel (in the same grounds), may trigger some much needed investment, hopefully not at the financial exclusion of the majority of Oulton Park Golf Club's current visitors and members.
