Some accounts suggest that golf has been played in Cruden Bay since 1791 but what we can say for certain is that the Great North of Scotland Railway company opened Cruden Bay Golf Club in 1899 after employing Old Tom Morris to design the links. Cruden Bay is now recognised worldwide - recently voted the 52nd best course on earth - as a near perfect example of old fashioned links golf. At 6395 yards Cruden Bay Golf Club is not the longest links course you will play but it remains the fair and solid test of golf that Morris and his partner Archie Simpson intended it to be.

Having been lucky enough to play at Cruden Bay on 3 occasions I can genuinely say it is truly worth a visit - a great golfing experience. From the welcoming clubhouse to the excellent test of links golf Cruden Bay does not disappoint. Holes 13 to 16 have a big reputation and they certainly live up to it. Cruden Bay should be a must play course for anybody visiting the area.

Wasn't sure what to expect at Cruden Bay, but it was incredible. The set up of the club and the town is reminiscient of Ballybunnion and Machrianish. The clubhouse is perched up high overlooking the course and the facilities (driving range, pitching green, putting green, 9-hole course) are brilliant. The course itself has an authentic links feel to it. Great mixture of short holes that test your course management and the view from the 9th tee is one of the best golfing views you could experience. The course condition is normally excellent and the course will leave you will the feeling that you have experienced a true links challenge, and golf the way it was meant to be played. Excellent.

Cruden Bay Golf Club is a bit out of the way but well worth the petrol money. Always in good condition with some of the best greens you will ever putt on. Great views and a friendly atmosphere add to the enjoyment and quality of Cruden Bay Golf Club.
