Costa Esuri Golf Club's West course is the longer of the two course built at the Costa Esuri resort. The course has been built with a real nod to the American style and expansive fairways and large greens dominate. The course sits on the banks of the Guadiana River and offers wonderful views across to Portugal's Algarve region.

Oh dear – what a pity ! The first ten holes (didn’t play the rest due to rain) can only be described a long and boring. In very good condition, both fairways and greens but absolutely no imagination used by the architect. Just up and down with a few bunkers either side of the way. In fact some of the most unimaginative bunkering I’ve ever come across which is a great pity as the location, alongside the River Guadiana, is peaceful and “linksy” in feel and could have been the site of a first class links type course. I doubt if the architect has ever visited a proper links course. The par 3’s are too long for the average golfer, requiring at least a 3-Wood and sometimes a Driver. Why, oh why is length seemed an essential part of modern course design. Condition 8/10, Architecture 4/10, Enjoyment 4/10.
