Golf Course Says
The Celtic Manor Roman Road Golf Course was the first course to open at the Celtic Manor resort (venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup) and it has proved to be enduringly popular since the Rober Trent Jones Jnr design opened in 1995. Views to Somerset and Devon across the Severn Estuary abound on a course that was sympathetically designed to avoid damaging any of the remains of the Roman settlements and infrastructure from which it takes its name. Celtic Manor has hosted the Celtic Manor Wales Open and has been labelled Wales' finest inland course.

Media Reviews
GreenFreeCeltic Manor is living, breathing proof that a place of outstanding natural beauty and the game of golf can be a partnership made in heaven.
Where2Golf.comCeltic Manor Roman Road is a very good and rather American course, with impressive views across the Usk valley to the town of Caerleon and away down to Newport and the Bristol Channel. Despite being fairly open, your drives need to be accurate to hit tight-ish fairways and avoid the lush grassy rough, from which balls may never re-appear. Large slick greens and some impressive bunkering will add to the challenges of carding a good score on your first (or subsequent) visits. If you birdie the par-5 3rd hole, you deserve a lot more than a pat on the back from your partners.
