Golf Course Says
The Celtic Manor Montgomerie Course - designed by the legendary European Ryder Cup talisman Colin Montgomerie - makes full use of the beautiful landscape and wonderful views to make a course that golfers will want to return to again and again. Monty's tradtional design - including the use of deep pot bunkers - means the course has an almost links look and feel and the stunning tee shots will never be forgotten. The Celtic Manor Montgomerie is a real delight and golfers will enjoy a testing but memorable experience.

Golfalot Review of Celtic Manor Resort Montgomerie Course
The Celtic Manor Montgomerie Course certainly does have some fantastic views, especially as you go over the hill at the par-5 3rd and look down over the valley. However hills is the word as this is not the flattest course in the world and the front 9 in particular is very hilly and with long distances between greens and tees it is a bit of a hike if you are walking. There are buggys available, but if you are not allowed on the fairways in the winter then it is still a trek and this has an effect on the pace of play.
That said however there are some good holes like the par-5 3rd for the views and the 4th and 5th are very scenic too. The back nine is a little more compact and not quite as hilly so it is a bit more walkable, with the downhill 10th hole with the water in front of the green being the pick of the course.
The Celtic Manor Montgomerie Course is your classic resort course. Good fun but the fairways are generous and a few holes feel pretty wide, particularly the 1st which is a bit underwhelming. The greens are a good challenge and in pretty good condition. Overall worth playing but leave lots of time.
