Where2Golf.comCliffs, undulating farmland and white, non-papal, smoke are all visible from the first tee at Carlyon Bay Hotel as you set off onto this very pleasant and wonderfully scenic golf course. Evidence of some old industry (former quarries and mine shafts) are dotted around the course, and there's a touch of new industry at the very far end - but never anything to spoil the breathtaking sea and countryside views. The excellent layout is gently undulating, and the clifftop environment of the first 13 holes is traded for a more parkland setting for the final five. With good width fairways and not too much rough beyond them, Carlyon Bay presents golfers with a fair challenge in a thoroughly enjoyable setting. Only a force 8 gale, not unheard of here, will impact your enjoyment of one of Britain's most south-westerly and scenic courses.
Todays GolferA cracking clifftop course overlooking the Cornish coast. Front nine provides plenty of action, par 4 9th is the signature but the par 5 10th comes close.
