I have played many links courses from Dunaverty in the south to Brora in the north and I can say that playing Brora is the most fun I have ever had with my clothes on.
It is a real challenge of a links course with blind shots and humps and bumps abounding. The fairway turf is divine, the greens true and silky and the layout constantly charming.
I was one of the very lucky, and few, visitors to par the par-3 18th, as great a finishing hole as I have ever played and that includes the 18th at Lossiemouth. I sat in the club house that overlooks the 18th green for an hour or so after my round and winced at some of the card wrecking approach shots that I saw.
It's a long journey to get there but worth it, the journey is fantastic and when you stand on the first tee you will not regret the effort to get there. One piece of advice, leave your lob wedge at home, it's a waste of space on this course.
Go to Brora and enjoy, in an area of outstanding golf courses, Royal Dornoch, Nairn, Fortorse and Rosemarkie, Lossiemouth just to mention a few of the wonderful links courses, it is a gem worth finding.
