Brighton & Hove Golf Club

Brighton & Hove is perched on the top of the downs, and it has excellent drainage through the chalk. The greens are playable all year round, even in freezing January or after heavy rain in the spring. There are a few tough holes here, and worthy of special mention is the 6th, a drop hole of 155 yards with a vertical drop of 100 feet, so it plays like 120 yards. A tough 7th dogleg means you'll be lucky to par it the first few times you play it. It's a lovely club with an atmostpheric Victorian clubhouse with a log burning stove in the middle of the room, just what you need when you come in from the cold. It's a very friendly club without airs and graces and that's why I chose it over other clubs in the area. Great bunch of members and green fees payers are always made welcome.
