In this majestic setting the internationally renowned architect, Dave Thomas, has created a championship Bowood Golf Course which weaves through and around the Park's mature woodland. Where2Golf.comBowood Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort course is a relatively recent and open layout in the grounds of the Bowood estate. The construction of many bumps and mounds to compliment the natural undulations has produced holes with good definition, where the hazards are there to see, if you miss the relatively generous fairways. The large (often two-tiered) greens at Bowood are heavily defended with some serious bunkering and, on a couple of holes, there is water to avoid as well. Views onto the Wiltshire Downs, complete with carved white horse and the rural and natural setting all add up to an impressive golf venue. Todays GolferHuge greens, often two tiered, characterise the course - as do uphill approaches which often follow downhill aproach shots. Higher handicappers can enjoy themselves but must simply not expect to play to their handicap. All the more enjoyable when you consider the value.
