Golf Course Says
From the moment that you shoot out of the funnel at the 1st right, up until your final drive over a wasteland, and thence to the magnificent finish of the elevated 18th green, you will have traversed a quite incredible Ballybunion Golf Club's Cashen Course . Many of the green surfaces, traps and contours have been created by nature, to make the Cashen Course at Ballybunion Golf Club a experienced natural links course. There is no more natural golf hole in the world than the 10th at the Cashen Course, an outrageously beautiful stretch of God-given terrain. Many will consider the 13th to be the most spectacular hole on the course. From the landing area you wilt be looking at perhaps the most superb green-site that has been conceived. As for the par fives at the Cashen Course, their length and challenge is matched only by their stunning beauty.

We played the Cashen course in the afternoon after playing the Old in the morning, and we were impressed with the course. It is a fun, quirky course that leads you up, down and around the hills and dunes, more so than the Old Course. It is a tiring walk, but one that is filled with holes like 5, 10, 16 and 17 that will provide stories and memories long enough to savour over your Guiness in town later on. A tough course to navigate if you are playing it for the first time, so perhaps hire a caddy if you can. Otherwise, take time to read the course guide and be careful hitting the blind shots. Well worth a round if you are playing the Old.
