Golf Course Says
Aberdour Golf Club is situated just six miles southeast of Dunfermline in the delightful region of Fife; lies some 30 miles south of St. Andrews and on the shores of the River Forth. St. Andrews is known throughout the world as the ‘Home of Golf’ and where the origins and rules of the game of golf were developed. From a golfing perspective St. Andrews may arguably be the golfing centerpiece for golf in the Kingdom of Fife but throughout the Kingdom there are a number of golfing ‘Jewels in the Crown’. One of these is Aberdour Golf Club.

Review of Aberdour Golf Club
Golfalot rating:
3 stars out of 5
Aberdour Golf Club is short but very scenic. The clubhouse overlooks the first hole and the dramatic views of the Firth of Forth and depending on the wind, the par-3 first could play anything from a short iron to a wood. The views continue all along the front nine which hugs the coastline with a combination of par-3s and short par-4s. The course's main defense is the greens which have some subtle but pretty strong slopes towards the sea and if the flags are tucked away you will be punished for not being on the right side of them, so accuracy off the tee becomes more important.

The 8th at Aberdour is stroke index 1 and you can see why as it dog legs right round the bay, across a burn to a raised green and is the best hole on the course. Get through here in a good score and things becomes easier as you move into the back 9. From 11 onwards you are back in a more parkland setting with lots of driveable par-4s and several good par-3s, although they are all around the same yardage so on a calm day you are hitting the same club most of the time.

If you are looking for a fun round of golf on your journey around Scotland that won't be a long slog then Aberdour golf course is well worth a visit, especially for that front 9 and some of the best views in golf.
