Another course not far from the heart of Edinburgh Silverknowes Golf Course is set on the southern shores of the Firth of Forth and the treelined parkland course offers stunning views across the water to the Kingdom of Fife. Watch out for the 18th - Silverknowes has a sting in its tail with a 601 yard par 5 to finish. |

Silverknowes Golf Course has a great lay out but was in a terrible condition. Greens might be the worst I've ever putted on. This is a municipal course so you can understand the condition off it which is a bad thing to say. The 18th is 600+ yards and plays every bit off it. Silverknowes Golf Course does have a very friendly clubhouse and members.

Silverknowes Golf Course is just a poor course. Not many exciting holes and set in a pretty poor layout, it is not really worth a visit.

Silverknowes golf course is run by the council and it shows. The location overlooking the Firth of Forth is great and the layout is pretty good. However the condition of the greens in particular was deadfull when I played it. Clubhouse is a bit basic too, but friendly.

I have read the reviews of visiting players to Silverknowes, my home course, and appreciate thier comments. The local council, have for some years, used the golf facilities and the monies they raise through them, to subsidise other "leisure" pursuits run by the council. Now operating as Edinburgh Leisure. Only a percentage of monies raised get ploughed back into golf courses. I have been a member for 16 years and thoroughly enjoy playing on this course. Always a challenge, especially when the wind gets up. Despite all the shortcomings of the course, we at Silverknowes are very proud to have 3 players represent the county, and our own team winning the evening news sponsored, Dispatch Trophy on a number of occasions now. In short, despite the course, we produce players who can play on "better condition" courses and perform to a very high standard.
