Royal West Norfolk Golf Club

It is not difficuilt to see why Royal West Norfolk Golf Club is so consistently rated as one of the best in England. This is classic links golf in its purest, most dramatic and most enjoyable form. Surrounded by the North Sea and saltmarshes Royal West Norfolk Golf Club has the atmosphere and setting to match the quality of the golf on offer. Visitors are welcome at Royal West Norfolk but numbers are restricted and only two balls or foursomes are allowed on the course which means that a round can be completed in a sensible time. The course was designed by Holcombe Ingleby and many of the holes that he laid down in 1892 remain in play today - confirmation, if any were needed, that this is land that lends itself perfectly to challenging golf. The Royal status of Royal West Norfolk was conferred by the Prince of Wales, later King Edward VII, became a patron of the club. Since then Dukes of Gloucester and Windsor and two Duke's of Kent have captained the club. The Royal West Norfolk golf course clubhouse is not accessible by car when the tide is high and the trip across the beach to the clubhouse adds the anticipation of a wonderful golfing experience. Visitors should note that Royal West Norfolk Golf Club is often referred to as Brancaster.

What The Media Says

Todays Golfer

One of the most glorious links tracks in Britain. A classic nine out, nine back seaside layout, you have to make your score on the front nine with the wind at your tail. The back nine is likely to eat your scorecard alive. But be warned this is one old school place: you won't find Sky Sports in the clubhouse and you can only play as a twoball or foursome. But if you don't mind that and fancy a trip back in golfing time, this is the place to do it.
