Mapped By SkyCaddie
A Tour caddie paces every hole, and every green, to get accurate yardages - and so should you. ONLY SkyCaddie® mappers walk every golf course using survey-grade GPS backpacks, marking up to 40 critical targets for each hole - including contours, distances to hazards, fairway targets and layups which may be invisible to laser rangefinders. Don't rely on old aerial photographs - trust SkyCaddie to give you the most reliable information in the game.

You are greeted at the first hole at Rathsallagh by a fabulous view over surrounding hills and farmland. This opening par-5 leads you down into the lush splendour of the grounds of Rathsallagh House, where wide open grassy spaces and beautiful old woodland make up the visual attraction. Either side of the tight-ish fairways are various cuts of semi-rough and rough; the former you'll easily find your ball in, but it can be hard work playing out, the latter you won't find your ball, so no trouble playing out ! From the 6th to the 10th water is seriously in play, while from the 11th the easy-going, grassy parkland resumes building to the superb closing hole - a long uphill par-4 leading to the rather attractive Rathsallagh clubhouse.

Rathsallagh Golf Club is not the easiest course to find but once you get there it is well worth the effort. Has an American feel to both the course and the clubhouse. It did take a while to get round but I only noticed this once I had got back into the clubhouse. If you can make par at the last hole on Rathsallagh Golf Course you can play. A very difficult uphill long par 4 with a green that makes you work for your 2 putts. Rathsallagh Golf Course is a good test.

Rathsallagh is a superb course with great value deals, especially try the early bird. Very friendly club house. (Also has an old Inn with a fine dining restaurant in the centre of the course but did not get to stay there) Played during Irelands Ryder Cup week, torrential rain, however the course stood up really well. Re-conditioned bunkers superbly maintained in the conditions and probably the best greens I played all week. The par 5 6th was a real challenge over multiple streams and bunkers, loved the par4 8th, dog leg over a small lake, with the 13th being my favourite par 3 of the week. Long course, would recommend a buggy for those of us feeling our age a bit.
