The jewel in the crown of Algarvean golf Quinta do Lago South is the region's originial championship course and still retains a special place in the heart of many golfers. It has been a regular and popular venue for the Portuguese Open attracting the big names of European golf like Colin Montgomerie with the big Scot winning his first event here in 1989 and taking his first steps on the road to dominating European golf in the 1990's. The course is laid out so that it is played anticlockwise and favours the player who can draw the ball. Most of the holes have an ideal route to the green - spot the route and score low but it is not always easy to find! Although Quinta do Lago South is a championship course that has hosted the world's best it remains a course that is accessible for all golfers. |
