Golfers from all over the world continue to make the pilgrimage to Prestwick Golf Club to enjoy traditional links golf on the course that first hosted the Open Championship. In the very heart of the links golf citadel of Ayrshire Prestwick is a course that still provides a test and is full of atmosphere and history. At the time of the first Open in 1860 Old Tom Morris was Keeper of the Green, Ball and Club Maker at Prestwick. Although no longer on the Open rota Prestwick Golf Club is still imbued with magic today. |

 | They just don't make them like Prestwick Golf Course anymore. A truly classic links course where you can feel the history of the game of golf oozing out of the ground. One of the nerviest first tee shots in golf awaits you at Prestwick. It's usually just an iron, but with gorse left and the railway right it is never taken for granted. After the par-3 2nd the par-5 3rd gives you an idea of what is in store as sleeper lined bunkers an every swale imaginable is there to gather your ball. Ever played a blind par-3 over a sand dune? Well you will at the 5th with the guide disks in the face of the dune. Brilliant!
Thereafter the course opens out but the length increases and so does the difficulty. There are so many great holes, especially the run from the 10th down the coast to the 14th by the clubhouse. Then you go back in time again as the last four holes go in a loop through some of the craziest dunes you can imagine. Prestwick is sheer class and a course you will never tire of playing, plus if you are lucky enough to spend some time in the clubhouse you will enjoy some of the finest golfing hospitality in the world. |

Prestwick Golf Course is one of the most unique courses you could play. Such individual hole designs and varied greens make this one of the most memorable places I have played. The first hole at Prestwick Golf Course is a short par four that follows a railway track, the second an attractive par three and then a long undulating par five. And that is how Prestwick Golf Course continues throughout. Always in great condtion and with a history to match any club in the world, Prestwick Golf Course is worth the drive!

Prestwick is an absolute classic in every way. Quirky, unfair, challenging and full of history, you could play here every day and not get bored. The opening tee shot at Prestwick to a narrow fairway with the railway on the right means you have to be ready to go from hole 1. After some very narrow holes the course opens out through the middle 12, before tightening up for the last 5 through the dunes to some impossible greens. Any score is possible down these holes. I have played well there several times but not licked it which is the sign of a good course. The clubhouse at Prestwick is very old school and the dining room where everyone sits at one big table rounds off the marvellous experience that is golf at Prestwick
