Golf Courses In Wales
Welsh golf course guide, reviews, online tee times and 2for1 discount green fees.
Like so many of the great, historic courses that pepper the British Isles Holyhead Golf Club was designed by that supreme course architect James Braid and opened its doors for play in 1912. The course, at just over 6000 yards, can appear quite gentle but narrow fairways and gorse and heather provide challenge enough for the unwary. Another of the lasting testament's to Braid's skill Holyhead Golf Club has 18 holes rich in variety and enjoyment.

Mapped By SkyCaddie
A Tour caddie paces every hole, and every green, to get accurate yardages - and so should you. ONLY SkyCaddie® mappers walk every golf course using survey-grade GPS backpacks, marking up to 40 critical targets for each hole - including contours, distances to hazards, fairway targets and layups which may be invisible to laser rangefinders. Don't rely on old aerial photographs - trust SkyCaddie to give you the most reliable information in the game.
GreenFree
Seaside heathland course on Holy Island which is linked by causeway to Anglesey. Holyhead has no trees but gets its character from rocky outcrops, undulating fairways hemmed in by gorse and sea views.
Where2Golf.com
The front and back nines at Holyhead golf course are a bit different on this fairly demanding layout, set a kilometre or so back from the sea. Don't blame designer James Braid for the rocky outcrops, thick gorse bushes, many elevated greens and other features that await - especially on the (perhaps) tougher front nine. The Holyhead course had to be shaped to the undulating terrain, which Braid admirably succeeded in doing. The result is a course rich in character and full of charm, that will provide a fair but stringent examination of your golfing skills, most especially if the wind is blowing, as it so often does. Sea and surrounding countryside views are ever-present; maintenance standards are generally excellent and the "no-two-holes-alike" character of the course all combine to weave their golfing spell on the first time visitor.
