Gullane Golf Club No. 1 course was established in 1894 although golf was played on the site long before that. Gullane No. 1 is considered one of the finest course in the busy golfing coast line of East Lothian. A links course that is kept in top condition Gullane No. 1 has to contend with stiff breezes from the sea and golfers will also do well to avoid one of the many famous bunkers. The 3rd hole has been voted one of the Top 500 holes in the world and the stunning views across to Fife from the 7th tee are not soon forgotten. |

Gullane No.1 Golf Course is many players' favourite golf course, and I am one of those players. It is simply a superb links course. With some of the best greens in the country and a layout that would challenge any, Gullane No.1 Golf Course tests every club, shot and player and will entertain and frustrate any who tee up in the middle of the village. Gullane No.1 Golf Course also offers breathtaking views of Edinburgh and the Forth, do not miss out on a chance to play this memorable course.

Gullane No.1 course is an Open Qualifying course and has that classy feel associated with all great championship golf courses. Apart from 17, every hole is excellent and the condition is usually first class. The 2nd at Gullane No.1 is one of the hardest holes in golf, but leads on to the top of Gullane hill where you get some of the greatest views in golf over Muirfield and the First of Forth, especially from the 7th tee. The clubhouse has a great feel to it and the welcome is warm and friendly.

As a lover of links golf and a patriot. I could be accused of being biased. Gullane No. 1 is a must play golf course. The layout and scenery from as quickly as the 3rd hole is superb. as a high handicapper the way the course was set up brought the best out of my game (I scored 41 stableford points). As a West of Scotland man I know the east gets the best weather and has a lower count of rainfall and that day the sun was out.
The 1st hole is a par4 a good hole for a gentle start. A good drive leaves a short iron to set up an easy par. Realistically a bogey on the next is as good as a par as this a tough hole, uphill all the way. The course really expresses itself after that with elevated tees and views out to the sea. Beautiful inviting fairways and the condition of the course is first class. The 16th has the fastest green I have ever played. My compliments to the groundstaff. The No. 1 course is great value for money and a golf course that will stay in the memory forever. Thanks for a great day. This is why i love golf.
