Marriott Dalmahoy East Course

Five time Open champion, and inveterate golf course designer, James Braid laid down the two Dalmahoy course in 1927 and today the Marriott Dalmahoy East Course has been returned to its original status as a true test of Championship golf. Extensively refurbished in 2005, to the tune of £1 million, the East Course has been the venue for the Solheim Cup, the Scottish PGA and, most recently, the Scottish Seniors Open.

What The Media Says

Todays Golfer

One of Scotland's longest layouts and too hot to handle for the US women in the 1992 Solheim Cup. Quite forgiving off the tee but deep bunkers guard the big greens.

The East Course at Dalmahoy good test of golf. Has a hotel/country club feel about the place which might not be liked my some, but once you get out on the course you'll enjoy all 18 holes. Greens are massive so picking the right club from the fairway is a must. I have played the East Course at Dalmahoy a few times and the greens, as well as the rest of the course is always in good condition.

The East course at Dalmahoy is one of my favourite courses to go too. A big hitters paradise, it has recently been lengthed and upgraded in 2005, especially the back nine. The front nine has been tinkered with too and the fairway bunkering is really tight. The greens are on the large side and are usually in good condition. The new holes on the back nine at 13 and 14 are very tight, maybe too much so as you can't really go with driver unless you have a John Daly approach to course management. The former 14th is now a massive par-5 16th. 17 off the back is now a very small target and the revamped 16 is now a very long 18, although the new lower tee probably makes the drive a little easier. This back nine will sort out the men from the boys so save your energy for it. The Dalmahoy East course is a great layout but as with all corporate courses, it can be a little slow getting around and the hotel bar prices are a bit on the high side.
