From an unpromising stretch of farmlands in the Midlands Dave Thomas and Peter Alliss created a golf course that has entered golfing legend as a venue for drama and emotion. Many in Europe shall forever think of the Belfry Brabazon golf course as the home of the Ryder Cup - an event it has staged more times than any other course on either side of the Atlantic. From the heroics of Tony Jacklin's team first beginning to believe they could beat the Americans and then finally doing just that in such wondrous style to the emotion of the postponed 2001 event finally played in 2002 when Sam Torrance's European side reclaimed the trophy amid jubilant scenes. The Belfry Brabazon course has become the Ryder Cup's spiritual home.
Now known as The Brabazon At The Belfry the course is famed for its wonderful fairways and incredible greens as well as the numerous opportunities it provides for drama. This truly is a course where the golfers is constantly reminded of that small dividing line between triumph and disaster. Faldo, Woods, Seve and Monty have all sampled the unique atmosphere of the Brabazon and very few visitors are ever disappointed when they have the chance to do the same. |

De Vere Belfry is a great course to play a course you have seen so many times on the TV in Ryder Cup's and comparing where you hit the ball to the pro's. Apart from the famous 10th and 18th holes the rest of the course was a bit of a let down. De Vere Belfry is still very enjoyable but nothing special.
