Old Tom Morris first laid out the Askernish links on South Uist in 1891 and the course has recently been restored to Old Tom's vision using traditional design methods. Today livestock graze on the course during the winter, no chemical are used by the greenkeepers and the contours of the dunes form the fairways. Little wonder that environmentalists hail Askernish Golf Club as the world's "most natural links course."
