Ashburnham Golf Club

One of Britain's most distinguished links courses Ashburnham has long been considered one of the finest example of classic links golf. The course has an illustrious history - Welsh Ryder Cup legend Dai Rees won the 1959 PGA title here - and it was rated by the great Harry Vardon as the best course in Wales. Ashburnham golf course as it is played today is the work of Vardon's great contemporary JH Taylor. On visiting the course in 1910 - 14 years after it had been established - Taylor suggested a number of changes that he felt would impose Ashburnham in the top rank of course. Those changes were made and it is a testament to his vision and ability that the course remains today much as he envisioned. Ashburnham Golf Club remains a wonderful to the design ability of the great man and still justifies his proud remark: ""It stands comparison with many of the best seaside courses in the country."
