Course Website

Aberdovey Golf Club

Aberdovey Golf Club is set in Snowdonia National Park and a course of some sort has been played over the links since 1886. The course that is played today has benefitted from the input of three great course designers - Colt, Braid and Fowler - and the beauty of the golf on offer is more than matched by the beauty of the setting. The course is not short but the golfer who has a creative mind and a bagful of shots is more likely to succeed than the bomber of modern parlance. Golf at Aberdovey Golf Club is an experience that few will ever forget.

What The Media Says

Todays Golfer

Classic links and one of Britain's finest venues. Everything hinges on the wind factor. Take great care on the super slick greens.

Where2Golf.com

On the north side of Aberdyfi (Aberdovey) is a pleasant links course, bordered by a natural ribbon of dunes and a railway line. Sheep and cattle still graze on the course, kept away from greens by electrified fencing. The 288-yard par-4 16th perhaps epitomises Aberdovey, not a long hole by any means, but one that requires careful shot-making, lest you pull your drive onto the railway line to the left. The excellent greens are relatively flat, like most of the course, and usually protected by well-placed bunkers to left and right. Although sea-views onto Cardigan Bay are relatively few (you stay behind the dunes most of the time) the simple charms of Aberdovey will, as they did for Bernard Darwin and many others, unfurl as you relax into this peaceful and natural golf location.
