What The Manufacturer Says

The Wilson Staff FYbrid Hybrid's are a single family of long distance fairway utility clubs that deliver measurable distances between the clubs they replace. While the lofts and lengths of the 3-hybrid (21°), 4-hybrid (24°) and 5-hybrid (27°) have been carefully designed to provide exact 1:1 club replacements for the traditional 3-iron, 4-iron and 5-iron respectively. To ensure that the clubs in the Wilson Staff FYbrid Hybrid family are easily playable from all fairway lies, the Wilson Golf R&D team developed a proprietary sole design with heel, toe and central relief’s. Creating a railed sole place, the relief’s push the ground impact point forward towards the face – thereby minimizing the club bouncing into the ball at impact, which is the leading cause of thin shots. The toe and heel relief’s also make the clubs more playable from hillside lies and allow the club to be laid open or closed for more advanced shot-making.

What Golfalot Says

In our test we found that all the clubs in the Wilson Staff FYbrid family are easy to play from all kinds of fairway lies and the railed sole minimizes the club bouncing into the ball at impact. The three Wilson Staff FYbrid hybrids in the range are best off a good lie in the fairway and hold their own from the light semi rough. They were pleasing on the eye and the only thing to be aware off is that they will probably not suit tight links lies as the leading edge is a little raised as the railed sole moves the belly of the sole back under the centre of the club.

The Fybrid Hybrids sit well behind the ball and get the ball up very quickly. They are easy to hit, but the flight is not as penetrating as other Hybrids I’ve hit. They were fairly easy to shape and the club looks good and gives you plenty of confidence. Flight is just a bit to high though.
