The Wilson Staff Dh6 utility club is a hybrid that incorporates the company’s breakthrough ETF (Energy Transfer Frame) technology and optimal internal weighting to add distance and higher launch, easing the difficulties of the long iron shot. ETF technology structurally reinforces the area just behind and around the Wilson Staff Dh6 clubhead face to optimize energy transfer back to the ball at impact. Because the crown, sole and skirt of most traditional utility clubs are very thin, energy is often lost on impact because they lack the structural strength to maximize the energy transfer most advantageously to the golfer. Through ETF, Wilson has developed a proprietary laser welding process adding a discrete and virtually weightless weld line that frames the face and captures energies previously lost in the clubhead. This added energy directed back through the face of ETF, produces extra distance and results in an expanded, high COR or ‘hot zone’ area double the size of any club without ETF. This ‘hot zone’ produces longer and straighter off-centre hits and ETF technology will be featured throughout the 2006 line of Wilson Staff drivers and fairway woods. The club features a 100% stainless steel clubhead with a low profile and thinner face for increased forgiveness and playability. Extra internal weight has been placed in the back sole, for a lower centre of gravity that helps to get the ball airborne and produces maximum distance. A wide, rounded sole makes it easy to hit, even from the most difficult of lies. The Wilson Staff Dh6 utility club is available with two graphite shafts as standard - a new Nano-Tech II shaft that provides 25% more stability while being 8% lighter than previous shafts and the Aldila soft-tipped NVS 85 gram hybrid shaft.

We tested the Wilson Staff Dh6 Utility Club with the gold Adila NVS shaft in it and thought it was a very good club. The club is designed to get the ball airborne and with this soft tipped shaft it certainly achieves that. The 22 degree version we had gave a high, yet penetrating flight which is perfect for mid-high handicappers who need to get the ball airborne and don't fancy a 3 or 4-iron. Lower handicappers will prefer the lower lofted 19 degree Dh6 Utility Club with the Nanotech shaft, but even then Wilson could do with bringing out a 15-17 degree version for this sector of the market. The feel from the head was excellent and the cambered sole adjusted to any sort of lie and stance. The head was a nice weight, reasonably forgiving, felt well balanced and allowed you to shape shots left and right. Hitting a low one was a bit more difficult, but that is not really what the Wilson Staff Dh6 utility club is about! Overall we would recommend this as one to try.

I purchased the Wilson Dh6 club about 6 weeks ago. I have to say that it was money well spent. I had the old Taylormade Rescue before this and that was a good club, but if you compare both clubs then the Wilson Dh6 wins. It is easy to get the ball in the air with a good easy swing. I use stiff shaft irons and a stiff shaft driver but I brought the Dh6 in the regular shaft and it was great. I would recommend you try both the regular and stiff just to compare. I purchased the Dh6 19 Degree and have no regrets. I have to say that anything over 200 yards for me will mean getting this club out and it delivers most of the time. A bad swing cannot be blamed for this not performing. I think it is a great buy; however I would strongly recommend trying the club out before purchasing it. I would recommend this over the Taylormade Rescue as I tried this club at the same time I tried the Dh6.
