The Wilson Staff Df6 fairway wood features ETF Technology which harnesses lost energy at impact and redirects it to the club face to create a larger Hot Zone at impact. ETF Technology in effect captures and re-directs these “leaks” by structurally reinforcing the area behind and around the club face without adding material or weight. A proprietary laser welding process adds a discrete weld line around the periphery of the head that frames the face. Stronger than the surrounding titanium, this Energy Transfer Frame captures the energies previously lost through the thin walls and redirects it to the club face to produce an expanded high COR (coefficient of restitution) area or Hot Zone double the size of a club without ETF. Also in the Wilson Staff Df6 fairway wood are two L-Pods (Launch Pods) in the sole. A pair of 6-gram nickel tungsten alloy screws is placed in the sole to optimize the trajectory for the golfer’s particular game.

Wilson Staff Df6 5 Wood Graphite Shaft Fairway Wood Review

The Wilson Staff Df6 fairway woods are aimed at the mid to high handicap player with a more closed face and sole weights which are positioned further to the rear than the Pf6 fairways. This provides a higher launch angle than the Pf6 and the distance was good as were the looks. The standard nano tech shaft was very good and there is a wide range of custom fit options as well. The compact head of the Df6 fairway wood sat nicely behind the ball at address, but our only minus was the feel at impact which was not as good a some of its (albeit more expensive) competitors.
