Wilson first introduced their D-line of irons in 2005. The D related to the distance gains the range of irons offered players.
The Wilson Staff D-100 irons build on the company's Di7 and Di11 irons, with a new lightweight design engineered to offer more distance with the same swing effort.
With the new Right Light Technology, Wilson claim the D-100 iron could gain players up to 5-10 yards on iron shots.
Wilson's Michael Vrska explains that "You can make clubs that are too lightweight… But extensive research has shown that the Right Light Technology can help the game improvement player expend the same amount of effort and get faster clubhead speeds to generate seriously long distance."
The D-100 irons have been designed for the player who want lightweight performance, easy-to-swing distance and forgiveness.
The face of the D-100 irons is 7% thinner to deliver faster ball speeds and improved distance. 35% of the mass of the have been moved to the sole, heel and toe thanks to an Exoskeleton technology and an undercut cavity, improving the irons' forgiveness.
Each club in the set has been optimized to offer the correct head proportions to offer ideal launch, ball speeds and spin rates for each loft.
The Wilson Staff D-100 irons are offered in either a steel or graphite shaft. The True TemperSL85 steel shaft offers a mid-spin rate and a mid-to-high launch.
The Matrix Studio 6.1 graphite shaft is a premium lightweight shaft with the same launch and spin characteristics and a Tip Torsional Technology designed to offer structural stability at the top of the shaft and less shaft twist at the bottom through impact.
