Wilson Staff Ci7 Steel Shaft Iron

The Wilson Staff Ci7 iron combines a tour-driven, mid-size shape with a greater level of forgiveness for maximum playability. It is a great iron for the player that requires slightly more forgiveness. The Wilson Staff Ci7 features a mid-size head preferred by most golfers, delivering the look of a tour iron with the forgiveness of an oversized iron. Its advanced weight distribution creates high MOI and maximum forgiveness. A central notch accentuates heel/toe perimeter weighting for increased MOI and the thin face delivers maximum power. An undercut cavity gives greater head stability and the Elastomeric paint in the cavity reduces vibration by 1/3.

What Golfalot Says

Wilson say the Wilson Staff Ci7 iron is Tour-inspired and they do look like a set of blades on steroids from above. The faces are reassuringly big and the mid-sized top line of the clubhead hides the undercut cavity in the back which includes vibration dampening pads for better feel. A Progressive Tip Design in the shaft means a softer tip with a lower kick point in the long irons for higher ball flight, progressing to a stiffer tip and higher kick point in the short irons to maximise control and accuracy. This gives the Ci7 irons a great feel and makes the mid and short irons very forgiving and a joy to hit.

The set goes from four to sand wedge and the 4 iron in particular did not feel quite as forgiving as the mid and short irons, but if that is a problem you can always replace it with a Fybrid 4h. It was surprising to see a sand wedge in the set these days and to be honest, it is OK for pitching, but one of Wilson’s forged wedges would be better out of the sand. Overall from 5 to pitching wedge the Wilson Staff Ci7 irons are a great set and pretty good value for money, so head along to one of Wilson’s many custom fitting centres to get the right make up of set for you.

The Wilson Staff Ci7 irons were easy to hit and they do get the ball airborne very quickly. A bit to thick looking for me and I didn’t like the look of the shorter irons. A bit squarish looking. They say they were “Tour inspired”, but I can’t see any Tour players going anywhere near them. A decent set that should suit the player they are aimed at.

I have now played 3 rounds with the wilson ci7 with steel shafts. These are by far the best i have hit. I go to alot of demo days and I am always hitting new clubs. I have 5-pw. and to me the ball flight , distance and accuracy is dead on. I seriously have only mishit one ball in 3 rounds and it was a 7 iron and the distance stayed the same but it drifted a little right. i would usually hit 3 or 4 thin a round. not these. i would reccomend anyone these clubs high to low handicappers.
