The Wilson Staff FYbrid RS hybrid is part of the FYbrid RS range that features six different hybrids and fairway woods designed to simply your game. The FYbrid RS allows golfers to build more consistent distance gapping into their sets, while offering direct iron-replacement hybrids (3, 4, 5). With most sets of irons now being offered from sand wedge to 5-iron, the iron-replacement FYbrids allow golfers to effectively keep the 3 and 4-irons in the bag.

The Wilson FYbrid RS hybrid features three key technologies aimed at improving performance and ball-striking: the RS Rocker Sole, Three-Zone Face technology and a lower Center of Gravity. The Wilson FYbrid RS has a rounded "Rocker Sole" profile that creates a symmetrical look at address, by removing material near the hosel and toe of the club. This insures players can identify the ideal impact area and delivers improved performance from a variety of lies, as well as minimizing turf interaction.

Wilson's Three-Zone Face Technology optimises the sweet spot by increasing the spring area in the heel and toe of the club, improving accuracy of off-center hits.

Finally, A lower and deeper Centre of Gravity (COG) on the FYbrid RS woods helps get the ball airbourne and inspires confidence. The dual rail featured on the sole of the club improves the turf interaction further and in-turn moves the COG further back and lower for a stronger ball flight.

Each FYbrid RS hybrids come with a UST/Mamiya Proforce VTS shaft, which has been modeled on the size, centre of gravity and MOI of the clubhead to maximise rotational force and distance.

Wilson FYbrid RS Utility Club Review

The Wilson FYbrid RS fairway wood has a more rounded head than previous Wilson fairways, with the toe taking the brunt of this feature. The RS stands for 'rocker sole' and the roundness continues to the sole design. The camber is larger than most fairways to enable you to play from a variety of lies, which is good. However from tight fairways this may be an issue on low off-centre hits, but otherwise from the tee, rough and bad lies the FYbrid RS was very forgiving and the higher lofted versions are great clubs to use in the rough.

The sound at impact with a little high pitched but we quite liked it. We also liked the looks of the club with the 2 tone red and white shaft combining with the black head and silver face, even though the face visually seemed a little small thanks to the rounded toe sweeping back in.

Focus on the performance and you have a very competitiively priced fairway wood that will suit mid-handicappers on parkland courses.

I found the Wilson FYbrid RS Utility extremely easy to hit. The distance wasn't overwhelming, but it was incredibly easy to hit and flew very high. If you struggle with long irons, these could be for you. They are relatively oversized compared with other hybrids on the market, but still look good behind the ball.
