Wilson FG Tour Golf Ball

The FG Tour golf ball from Wilson Staff is the softest, highest spinning urethane golf ball ever produced by the company and has been designed in anticipation of the new groove rules that come into effect in January 2010. The FG Tour is aimed at the competitive golfer who is looking for Tour-calibre spin, maximum greenside control and excellent distance from the tee. A low 75 compression three-piece golf ball, the Wilson Staff FG Tour is covered in a thin, soft veneer of urethane with a 318 PhD dimple pattern that to deliver maximum traction control for iron and wedge shots. The FG Tour also benefits from Wilson’s Traction Control Technology that has been designed to improve stopping power into greens, longer carry distance and reduce the change of fliers from the rough. With the new groove rules limiting the sharpness of the grooves TCT gives the FG Tour a significant edge and in internal testing the spin, control and distance shows the FG Tour leading the way in the premium ball market.

I've just bought my first box of the Wilson FG Tour and played my first round with them. I have to say I'm really impressed with these balls. Loads of spin and control with a soft almost rubbery feel to the surface. Feels really nice off the club face from driver through to putter, giving lots of confidence. The proof of this was in the behaviour of the ball as it landed on the green, but still with good distance off the tee.

Much to my surprise, having played eighteen holes with the same ball, it still looked as good as new at the end of it. I will most certainly be buying more of these. The quality is excellent, while the price, although not cheap, is a lot less than a Pro V 1.
