The Titleist 905S driver is packed with innovative new features designed to improve launch condition, ball flight and playability, and also features an innovative multi-material design. Most significantly a new lightweight aluminium hosel enables weight to be redistributed to position the centre of gravity lower and closer to the face. The new 905S driver also features a two-piece face utilising thin beta titanium face insert technology supported by a uniformly thin face flange, which generates higher ball speed and greater accuracy on off-centre hits. The head shape retains the 'true pear profile', widely accepted by many accomplished players and that has become Titleist's signature head profile. The 905S is the lower spin design of the two new Titleist drivers and has a deeper face to produce a reduced launch angle, boring flight and more controlled trajectory. The 905S is ideal for high-speed players who favour a lower launch and naturally high spin players who need reduced spin to achieve a more playable trajectory. Although slightly bigger then their predecessors at 400cc, the new drivers retain the traditional square face angle preferred by the Titleist target market.
The Titleist 905S driver is a quality piece of kit those oozes class when you look at it. The club sat very well at address and felt very well balanced throughtout the swing. If you prefer a slightly smaller head on your driver, then the 400cc head on the 905S driver is going to be perfect for you. However compared to larger clubs, it does seem smaller heel to toe, even though the face of the club is nice and deep. On impact the club felt great, and this applied right across all areas of the face, giving a good consistency of flight and distance whever you hit it on the face. The only downside was the sound at impact which was a little hollow and maybe did not live up to the same high standards as most other things about the club. Overall though, the Titleist 905S is a very competent driver, especially for the better player.
