What The Manufacturer Says

Titleist Golf Balls

The Titleist Pro V1 golf ball has a three-piece multi-layer construction, designed for serious golfers of all levels that prefer Tour-validated technology and performance. It features a soft, polybutadiene 1.530” core and an ionomer blend casing layer that combine to provide high speed and low spin for long distance off the tee. The Titleist Pro V1 has a very thin Urethane Elastomer cover that surrounds the casing layer and contributes to exceptional feel and Drop-and Stop short game control into and around the green.

Among the improvements to the Pro V1 golf balls is a new Staggered Wave parting line. Every golf ball must have a parting line as part of the manufacturing process. The new Staggered Wave design allows us to more densely pack the dimples on the Pro V1, creating the highest surface coverage ever on a Titleist golf ball. The combination of the new Staggered Wave parting line and improved surface coverage 392 dimple design in five different sizes, results in a slightly higher trajectory than the previous generation Pro V1 for longer, more consistent distance. It also has a Tour-validated A.I.M. (Alignment Integrated Marking) sidestamp that offers improved directional accuracy.

What Golfalot Says

The 2007 version of the Titleist ProV1 is the third generation of this golf ball and there are some improvements, but the changes are not as great as with the new version of the ProV1x. The Titleist ProV1 still gives you the excellent feel around the green and we found the slightly higher trajectory meant for some great carry downwind. The modified dimple pattern probably helps with the stability but is was difficult to tell. It's very hard to improve on the last version but this Titleist ProV1 golf ball seems a little better and still certainly the ball to beat.
