The TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB Irons are a muscleback blade expressly designed for the purist. With clear lines, a compact player's shape and minimal offset, the TPMBs deliver the pure feel, feedback and workability coveted by blade fans. The 6-step forging process employed produces a more precisely shaped and finished head that looks and performs like a work of art.

The TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB Irons feature a thin topline, thin sole, straight leading edge, minimal offset and tapered hosel work in conjunction to promote the kind of pure face-to-ball connection sought after by skilled players. In addition, the TPMBs incorporate TaylorMade's innovative new precision-weighting port in the back of the clubhead. The TPMB's weighting port guarantees precise swingweights while ensuring optimal and consistent CG location in every clubhead.

The TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB Irons also incorporate an advanced, USGA-conforming groove design to promote more spin and control from the rough. The standard shaft and grip properties were chosen with input from TaylorMade Tour Staff professionals, and include True Temper Dynamic Gold shaft —the most widely played on tour—and Tour Velvet grips, a combination deemed optimal for promoting consistent and responsive performance.

TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB Steel Irons Review

The TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB Irons come with a nice chrome finish and are a very compact blade style head. As you would expect the sweet spot is relatively small but the trajectory was nice and low and the feel was very good.

The bolt in the back of the head is the 'precision weighting point' to add weight to the head rather than use a weight in the shaft and therefore the centre of gravity is optimal for each club. It gives the club a bit of an 'industrial' look which is a little at odds with classic blades, but some may like it.

The heads were slightly smaller than the MC irons and this is a little more noticeable in the long irons. The smaller offset mean that the TaylorMade Tour Preferred MB Irons are aimed at very low handicap players. The shorter MB irons were very good and some better players could be tempted to blend them into an MB set.

The TP MB forged irons from TaylorMade are surprisingly easy to hit given the compact nature of the head and the thin topline. They look good behind the ball and have enough weight in the head to give plenty of confidence. The sound off the face was pleasing and distance was not a problem. Slightly more difficult to manouvere than some but you could still work the ball if you wanted to. Nice clubs.
