TaylorMade r7 Steel Tour Strong 3 Wood Graphite Shaft Fairway Wood

The TaylorMade R7 Steel fairway wood incorporates TaylorMade's renowned Movable Weight Technology. The r7 Steel is made of 455 steel and is more traditionally shaped. Key features of the TaylorMade R7 Steel fairway woods include two Perimeter-positioned TaylorMade Launch Control (TLC) ports giving 16 grams of movable weight consisting of a 2-gram TLC cartridge and 14-gram TLC cartridge which increase MOI and promote greater stability on mis-hits. The TaylorMade R7 Steel fairway wood is made from high-strength steel composition, has the same traditional shape as the tour-proven r7 TP and V Steel and a relatively shallow face which helps make the R7 Steel exceptionally easy to launch.

The TaylorMade R7 Steel fairway wood was created for players who want MWT in a more compact and traditionally shaped fairway wood. TaylorMade's MWT gives R7 Steel users the power to promote either a neutral ball flight or a right-to-left ball flight, depending upon how the TLC cartridges are configured. (Positioning the 2-gram TLC cartridge in the heel TLC port and the 14-gram TLC cartridge in the toe TLC ports promotes a neutral bias; switching the cartridge positions promotes a right-to-left bias.) TaylorMade testing indicates that the R7 Steel's MWT promotes shot-shape movement of up to 15 yards.

What Golfalot Says

The TaylorMade R7 Steel fairway wood is a classic looking fairway wood that uses moveable weights to change the flight of the shot. In our tests, the head was smaller than the driver's with the movable weights so the effect was not as great, but it still works well. The steel heads seemed a little heavier than other makes, but the performance was very good from all models in the range. Overall a good quality wood with options to move the weighting around, but if you want a neutral balanced fairway wood, then there are probably better ones around.
