When the R&A and USGA announced they would be banning anchored putters from professional events, many of the top manufacturers hit the drawing board in order to combat the change.
TaylorMade is one of those companies, creating the TaylorMade Daddy Long Legs putter.
With recent clubs with names like Rocketballz and Ghost Manta, the name Daddy Long Legs shouldn't surprise golfers. But this putter, may be worth the weight.
That is because the weight of this putter is the key to it's success. The heavier 130g grip works to increase the putter's MOI by up to 50% over traditional putters, promoting a more consistent "on path" stroke.
The performance mallet shape is similar to TaylorMade Spider models of old, with a new black and white design aimed to improve alignment. Constructed using 16 pieces made from 8 different materials, the Daddy Long Legs is designed to resist twisting and promote a smooth roll complete with its PureRoll Surlyn insert.
The 8500+ MOI head is the highest MOI head TaylorMade have ever made (previous models: Spider/Ghost Spider 6800, Ghost Spider S 6038), making it extremely stable especially on off-centre strikes.
The TaylorMade Daddy Long Legs will be available in either 35 or 38" inches. It is designed to be gripped a couple of inches below the end of the grip. If you typically use a 35" putter, the 38" model is designed for you. Likewise the 35" model is designed for golfers that currently use a 33" putter. Both models carry a starting RRP of £159.
As well as the mallet shaped Daddy Long Legs, TaylorMade have also designed a counterbalanced Spider Blade putter.
