TaylorMade 09 Burner Driver

TaylorMade TaylorMade Golf Clubs TaylorMade Videos Read Reviews
4.8 stars out of 5 (Based on 5 reviews)

The TaylorMade 09 Burner Driver has been developed for players who enjoy hitting the ball far off the tee. The 09 Burner Driver builds on the legacy of previous TaylorMade Burner Drivers to combine both SuperFast technology to promote a faster swing and Dual Crown technology to reduce the size of clubhead’s crown and increase the size of the base to deliver a low centre of gravity that promotes a higher launch angle and lower spin rate. Both these developments provide a large boost in distance. The club is easy to swing and allows all golfers to swing hard at the ball and achieve length off the tee. The 09 Burner Driver’s titanium clubhead features TaylorMade’s Inverted Cone Technology and the largest clubface of any TaylorMade driver. That allows the golfer to miss the centre of the clubface and still achieve distance.

I took some time in making a decision on a new driver. I had a ping TiSi which I bought on ebay a couple of years ago and felt that I was doing OK with it. Driving 250 yards but not consistantly straight, tended to fade right. I purchased a 9.5 stiff shaft 09 Burner and after a couple of sessions on the range it clicked. Oh my god. It feels like cheeting. The club is so forgiving, they say it is designed for people who like to swing, and I do. On my first practise round with it, I gradually increased the effort as I went around. So long as you keep your timing you can really spank this one and it goes for miles. I was driving the same distance as my old ping in to a 3 club wind and still getting the same distance. On a protected hole I drove 30-40 yards past my usual spot but bang on line for the green. I hit all but one fairway; due to a hook; grip too strong, I know this will not suit everyone, but is certainly worth a try, have confidence with it and give it a spank. All i know is that I love this club, I was smiling for 2 days after playing with it and at sub £189 it is a great buy. Hope this helps

It took me two months to decide on which driver to pick for the 2009 season, I narrowed it down to the r7 Limited or the new Burner, just simply down to price I picked the new Burner and I`m glad I did. It is very forgiving , straight , long , all I could ask for really. I`ve only had it three weeks but so far so good. I got the 9.5 version in stiif flex . I had the 2008 Tour Burner and it just didn`t suit at all, this feels totally different to that club. I would rate at 9/10. I got this 2009 Burner from a pro off ebay for £140 , a bargain. Let`s hope I can stick with it for the full season.

Just purchased this club from American Golf where I was Custom fitted. I have had several drivers over the last year or so and was beginning to think it was me that had the problem, I was wrong. Being custom fitted brought it home that I had being using the wrong shaft flex for years now, but all my problems seem to have gone with the purchase of this driver. Yes, you do get extra length, although it may take a round or two to be comfortable with this driver, you will be pleasantly surprised. The launch and penetration of this driver is perfect and I am now constantly hitting 270 - 290 drives which is ideal for my course which is nearly 6900 yards off the white tees. If you are in the market for a new driver, try this one first.

Well I've moved my old Callaway to the back of the line with the 09 Burner in the bag . I've droped 8 strokes in my game and I am on cloud nine! Did not notice really any more distance but oh so straight! You won't go wrong with this driver If it could cook I would marry it! Just took a couple of buckets of balls on the range to get the feel of this driver. A great job - TaylorMade move to the front of the line.
