The Srixon WG-706 Series wedge features a forged carbon steel clubhead with a tour shape, profile and U-Grooves resulting in increased spin on all shots. The engraved U-Grooves of the Srixon WG-706 feature a sidewall angle that has been reduced by 75% over its predecessor, increasing the total groove volume and further allowing the dirt, grass and moisture to channel away from the clubface. In addition, the Srixon WG-706 wedges have the friction generating, face press milling treatment, which promotes tremendous control out of almost any lie. The soft 1020 carbon steel allows for the ultimate feel that is necessary to hit delicate shots around the green. In addition, the heel bounce has been reduced and the trailing edge trimmed back to make the Srixon WG-706 wedge easy to lay open and play touch shots with spin.

When we saw the Srixon WG-706 wedge we couldn’t wait to get out and put it through it’s paces. The forged carbon steel clubhead looks great and the new U-Grooves that are becoming standard on all new wedges, give you fantastic spin on even the shortest shots. However make sure you hit the first 100 or so balls on the range to take the edge off the grooves before letting your own ball get in the way. From tight lies, fairways and hard sand this wedge is excellent and because the heel bounce has been reduced it is really easy to lay open and play touch shots with spin. We tried the 56 degree version with 12 degrees of bounce, but with a swing weight of D3 it was not really heavy enough to go through deep rough or soft sand effectively. Don’t get us wrong, this is a very good wedge, but make sure it is right for you and they type of courses you play on a regular basis.

The Srixon W-706 wedge is just to light. There is no weight coming through the ball at impact, with the result being no feel and hard to control. It looks nice and sits behind the ball well, but it is just to light for my liking.

I've played Vokey and Cleveland wedges for many years, but I picked up the Srixon WG-706 56 degree and fell in love with it. My only complaint was that it was too light but I solved that with some lead tape. I'm just ordered the 52 degree for my gap wedge and plan on getting the 60 degree when my current Vokey gets a little balder.
