The Rules of Golf app is a basic, ease-to-use directory of the rules authored by the R&A. The Quick Guide tab concisely covers all the areas of rule scenarios such as Playing The Ball, On The Green and Relief Situations. Most scenarios are accompanied by a cartoon image that explains the rule further. Some of the most common rules scenarios also include a short video explaining the rule, which is a great feature. All of the images and the text can be enlarged with the click of button to make it easier to read. You can archive specific pages into a 'Favourites' section that can then be accessed from your homescreen, which is useful when you want to refer to your findings at the end of your round or at a later date. Navigation through the app is quick and easy and we liked the tab menu at the bottom of the homescreen.

One feature we would have liked to see is a search tool or word index so that you could be quickly directed to specific rules or scenarios. Overall, we found the app incredibly easy to use and a great tool when out and about on the course. The days of reaching for your waterlogged rules book at the bottom of your bag may be over.
