4 stars out of 5 (Based on 3 reviews)

The tour-proven technology of the Ping S58 iron elevates the feel and performance of a smaller, traditional head. The ball fight and distance control preferred by players seeking to compete at the highest levels is achieved through strategic placement of the center of gravity (CG) further back in the long irons and moved forward in the short irons. This results in a slightly higher trajectory in the long irons and a more penetrating, controlled ball flight in the shorter irons. The dual cavity design of the Ping S58 iron combines with a vertical stabilizing bar to enhance feel by positioning the CG towards the center of the face. The width of sole increases inertia and moves the clubhead smoothly through the turf and rough. A thicker cavity near the toe and a thinner cavity closer to the heel moves the center of gravity away from the hosel toward the center of the face for a solid feel. A thin top line and progressive offsets aid in alignment and inspires confidence.

Ping S58 Irons Review

With most Ping irons, you either loved them or hated them, but maybe the Ping S58 irons could change all that. Response from their Tour players has helped shape the new design and performance from the prevous S59 model. Aimed at the better player, they are certainly more traditional in shape, with a compact head and nice clean lines. Our only complaint is that maybe the heads are too compact. Moving the centre of gravity back and then inserting the tuning pocket lower and closer to the face gives these irons fantastic feel for what Ping claim is a blade design. Right throughout the set, the feel is great and it is easy to move the ball flight left, right, up and down. Combined with Ping's excellent custom fitting service, then these are a set of irons that all better players should seriously consider.

I’ve been a huge fan of Callaway all my golfing life. I've used the X-16 for two years went from 19 to 12 then I used the Big Bertha Fusion’s last year and went from 12-10 handicap. I went for a custom fit and the pro specked me out and said that the Ping S58 irons out of all the irons I tried were the ones for me. I went with the computer and tried a few irons out and loved them. I got my new irons last week. Unreal, 20 yards further than the Callaway irons. I've shot under eighty in 2 out of three rounds. Low trajectory is great and the forgiveness is pretty good. I haven’t hit two many shots with the 3 or 4 irons but the rest were class.

I purchased these irons half way through last season and in the last month i have lost 3 weights out of my irons. In order to get the weights back in the irons it takes 2 weeks. Since I'm a competitive golfer this doesnt help as I have to play tournaments without some irons. Needless to say I havent been very impressed with theses irons.
