Ping Rapture V2 Graphite Shaft Irons

The Ping Rapture V2 Irons result from Ping's investment in multi-metal technology that combines the key properties of various materials to deliver a club that produces an optimal performance. The Rapture V2 iron is made up or a tungsten sole weight, a titanium face and a stainless steel body to allow for an innovative game improvement design. The lightweight titanium face allows weight to be relocated to the wider tungsten sole that positions the centre of gravity ideally for a higher launch angle and increased MOI. As a result the Ping Rapture V2 can incorporate stronger lofts to increase distance without sacrificing any control. The incorporation of a deeper Custom Tuning Port with elastomer inserts increases face stability for a solid feel and a uniform response across the whole clubface.

What Golfalot Says

The Ping Rapture V2 Irons combine the key properties of various materials to deliver a club that Ping claims produces an optimal performance. The Rapture V2 iron is made up of a tungsten sole weight, a titanium face and a stainless steel body. The lightweight titanium face allows weight to be relocated to the wider tungsten sole that positions the centre of gravity ideally for a higher launch angle and increased MOI. As a result the Ping Rapture V2 can incorporate stronger lofts to increase distance without sacrificing any control. Ping have also introduced a variable offset throughout the set as John now explains. In addition a deeper Custom Tuning Port on the back of the clubface increases face stability and gives a solid feel across the whole clubface. These are ideal for higher handicappers as they are very easy to hit and the extra weight in the sole can get you out of most bad lies.

The Ping Rapture V2 Irons are incredibly easy to hit and very forgiving. Even the longer irons - which I would not normally have in my bag - produced a consistent strike. They do look big which will inspire confidence in some and put others off. I found them a pleasure to play with and I certainly knew that with Rapture V2's in my hand any bad shots would be entirely my own fault. The weight and feel of the clubs also gives you the confidence to hit them from a variety of lies. For the higher handicappers searching for a bit more consistency and forgiveness the Ping Rapture V2's are a very tempting proposition.
