I was extremely reluctant about switching to a mallet style putter, but having lost some confidence with those 'gimmie' putts, I decided to try a few out.

I tried a good selection, but the Ping Karsten 1959 Craz-E stood out a mile. Having read some reviews talking about its solid feel I was surprised how soft putts felt off the face. The alignment as you would expect is fantastic, to the point where I’m confident enough on short putts to line it up and bang putts in, taking the break out completely.

The real thing that surprised me with this putter was that my distance control didn't seem to be compromised... if anything this has also improved. My stroke feels a lot smother and the role you get from the face is fantastic.

If you are willing to move away from a traditional blade putter I would highly recommend this putter…it’s a real gem at this price and has completely converted me to a mallet style!
