Ping K15 Steel Shaft Irons

The Ping K15 iron has been designed to give golfers the ultimate in performance and flexibility. The multi-material design of the K15 includes a lightweight titanium face that has allowed 27 grams to be repositioned to the perimeter of the 17-4 stainless steel club head.

By using this weight to widen the sole the K15 promotes a much higher ball flight even on those unfortunate misshits while also greatly enhancing the moment of inertia (MOI). Confirming completely with the revised R&A groove rules the Ping K15 golf irons feature a larger clubhead to improve forgiveness and deliver a complete game improvement club.

The K15 irons allow golfers to enjoy a consistent and high trajectory throughout the set with the inclusion of strengthened lofts while golfers can enjoy complete flexibility by choosing to replace the 5 and 6 irons with the 5 and 6 K15 hybrids to create an iron set that is comfortable enough to give you confidence on every shot.

The Ping K15 irons are available with the AWT (Advanced Weight Technology) steel shafts that provide lighter long iron shafts for better swing speeds and trajectory and heavier short iron shafts for control and penetration.

What Golfalot Says

Ping’s designers have set out to create a super game improvement iron set that gives golfers complete flexibility and excellent performance. The K15 iron is the result and combines traditional mid/short irons with hybrid mid/long irons. The Ping K15 irons has a head shape that is similar to the Ping Rapture V2 irons, but with some fine tuning. The sole of the club wider and the width at the toe is greater where a tungsten weight has been placed inside the cavity back instead of in the sole as it was in the Rapture V2.

The titanium face of the Rapture V2 is maintained in the K15 irons and this lighter metal allows weight to be moved to the heel and toe for more forgiveness. This is evident when you hit the K15 Irons as the feel is great and it is easy to find the sweet spot and produce effortless shots that fly on a slightly higher trajectory than the G15 irons, but a bit lower than the Rapture V2s.

One of the key features of the K15 set is that the K15 Hybrids have been designed to blend in with the irons, which go up to 5 iron. This offers a direct replacement to the 3 to 6 irons in the K15 set, but it can also be bought as a stand alone hybrid. The K15 hybrids look and play more like and iron than a wood and are available in numbers 3-6 so for higher handicappers we would recommend using the 3 and 4 hybrid and then swapping in the 5 or 6 depending on which you feel more comfortable with as they both perform equally well and are a good match for each other.

The Ping K15 irons provide an excellent game improvement option and by incorporating the K15 hybrids high handicapper golfers can have a hybrid iron set that matches their game throughout the set. The K15 hybrid is going to be available as a stand alone club, but at the same price as the excellent G15 hybrid so it will actually work out cheaper buying this as part of a K15 set. As hybrid sets go, the K15 iron hybrid set is one of the best, albeit a little on the pricey side

If you're looking for a game improvement iron that delivers on almost every shot, offers a seamless transition through the set and feels comfortable in any situation then the Ping K15 irons fit the bill.

Unfortunately this much Ping expertise in a game improvement iron doesn't come cheap but you might feel it is worth it after trying them. They look bigger than the G15 irons but that doesn't come across at address where they inspire confidence without looking like shovels.

A quality club from a quality manufacturer. If money is no object then this could be the club for you.

The K15 irons from Ping are aimed at the game improvements with the hybrid matching concept allowing players to put together a set that offers them maximum flexibility and forgiveness. Like all game improvement irons better players are going to find the look a little clumsy and I must admit that the head is far bigger than I feel comfortable with but if you struggle with you irons then the K15 may offer you the solution. They are easy to hit and the sweet spot appears to cover the whole club face so mishits be rare. Definitely a club to look at if game improvement is what you are looking for.
