The i3 Series was introduced in 1999 and was the #1 iron in 2000 and 2001*. Available in both Blade and O-Size models, the i3 Series feature several innovations that appeal to players of all levels. Common to both are: The Custom Tuning Port (CTP), whose walls control clubface vibration to improve feel and feedback. The thermoplastic insert enables us to acheive the precise tolerances required for building custom-fit golf clubs. The Notched Hosel, which is not visible at address, enables us to control the connection of the hosel to the clubhead. The result is an optically pleasing, smooth transition between the hosel and clubhead that can be precisely calibrated for loft and lie. The Flat Top Hosel increases the cross-sectional area of the shaft that is in contact with the hosel where the shaft enters the clubhead. This design reduces shaft stress for improved feel. What diferentiates the two models is the size of the clubhead, the offset and the bounce. The O-Size model is designed with optimum offset and bounce in a slightly larger head for players who need forgiveness and consistency. The Blade model is designed for players who prefer a smaller head with less offset and bounce, which gives them the ability to shape and control their shots.
