4 stars out of 5 (Based on 1 reviews)

The Ping Anser hybrids have been designed to promote a high launch with improved accuracy, distance and control for players of all abilities.

The Anser hybrid features a dark, non-glare, black, matte finish and a larger, traditionally shaped head. The lower portion of the clubface has been extended and squared off, improving alignment, increasing MOI and optimising spin rates.

Through external and internal weighting, each of the hybrids has a unique centre of gravity that optimises the flight for that specific loft.

For the higher lofts, the centre of gravity is positioned further forward, optimising a high launch and increased forgiveness. Whilst, the lower lofted Anser hybrids have a centre of gravity further back and lower to launch the ball higher whilst maintaining the correct spin for a strong ball flight.

The Ping Anser Hybrid is paired with Ping's proprietary TFC 800H shaft.

Ping Anser Utility Club Review

The Ping Anser hybrid does not feature the adjustable hosel of the driver and fairway wood because the 0.5 degree increments do not have a big enough effect in the hybrid size of head to make it worthwhile. Instead the internal and external weightings vary in each club to get the optimum trajectory.

Compared to the Ping i20 hybrid, the Anser utility has a 5% larger head and a 3% larger face. It still looks more like a wood than an iron and the deeper head and longer face will appeal to those who find the i20s a little too sleek. The Anser also sits a little squarer at address thanks to a more neutral set up and we think this is an improvement.

The silver TFC 800H feels a little firmer than the black TFC 707H of the i20 as well as a slightly different look. The trajectory was mid to high for each loft and the feel and sound were pretty good, although maybe not as nice as the i20 due to that larger head.

As with all the Anser range the price is a little higher than the i20s. All things being equal we prefer the i20 but if that looks to scary for you then the Anser is a worthy alternative.
