Ping Anser Milled Putter

The Ping Anser Milled putter range features Ping's Fit for Stroke™ fitting concept, whereby every Anser Milled putter is balanced to fit a stroke type: straight, slight arc or strong arc. The Anser Milled series includes seven models with various hosel designs that determine each putter’s balance, from a slight arc to a strong arc. Anser 5 is built for straight strokes; Anser, Anser 1, Anser 2 and Anser 3 are balanced for slight arcs; Anser 4 and Anser 6 fit players with a strong arc.

Each putter in the range features subtle variations to the top lines and a differing heel-toe length and toe radius to make them distinct. The Anser Milled series is crafted from 303 Stainless Steel and has an elegant satin nickel finish that prevents glare.

What Golfalot Says

The Ping Anser Milled putter range is the long awaited upgrade to the original Anser putter and a welcome sight given that it is one of the most copied designs around. We really like the idea of the classic Anser head being adapted to suit all different types of putting stroke through Ping's Fit For Stroke putter fitting concept. Used in conjunction with the excellent iPing App it is possible to get a guide on which of the different Anser Milled models will suit you best.

On the green the feel of the putter is light and you get great feedback at impact. The different hosel style really do make each model feel very different according to the style of stroke you have. However it is not all black and white as I came out with a straight stroke on the iPing App but the Face Balanced #5 model did feel unusual as it was at the other end of the scale from my usual Toe Down putter. Others with a slight arc loved Slight Arc putters and do not want to be parted from them, so therefore trying before you buy is very important as getting the length and lie correct with Ping's excellent adjustable fitting putter at official stockists.

It would be nice to see more variations in the Anser Milled styles for the Face Balanced and the Strong Arc as currently there is collectively a choice of 3 between them, but that may come in time. The only other issue the price, which with an RRP of £239 is very high for what is essentially a steel putter that you can get in a similar style elsewhere for less. However if you do have the means, then the Ping Anser Milled is a very good putter and well worth considering.

I was looking for a new putter after falling out of love with my Yes! Callie putter. The new milled face on this Ping Anser is perfect. It is consistent and has a great feel. The classic look of the Anser is unmistakeable and whilst this putter comes with a hefty price tag, it is definitely worth a try.
